Compass SMS Integration
Schools that use Compass can integrate with Hail Mail to send Hail articles, newsletters and other publications to their school community using automatically synced Compass email lists.
Why integrate with Compass?
Once set up, you’ll no longer need to export your school contacts from Compass and import them into Hail Mail. Changes in Compass automatically update in Hail, saving you from maintaining separate email lists.
Continue managing your contact information in Compass, and use Hail to create and distribute your newsletters and updates.
How do I send articles and newsletters?
Create and publish your article or newsletter in Hail. Once the integration is connected, you’ll see a panel on the right-hand side to help you distribute it by email using your Compass lists.
Select the appropriate list and send your published content to your school community.
Can I still use other Hail Mail lists?
Yes. You can continue using separate Hail Mail lists for specific groups or interests. Lists that aren’t connected to Compass will still need to be maintained separately.
How do I set up the integration?
Your school’s principal needs to email Compass Support to authorise the Hail–Compass integration. Please copy in Hail Support.
If Hail has already sent an approval request with Compass Support copied in, your principal can reply to all to confirm their approval.
Once approval is received, the Hail and Compass teams will set up the secure connection.
What information is collected?
The integration collects the following information for primary and secondary caregivers, students where available, and staff:
- First name
- Last name
- Email address
- Year level, where relevant
- Boarding status, where relevant and available
Will my articles and newsletters also appear on our website?
The Compass integration helps you distribute your content by email. Publishing content to your school website requires a website connection to be set up as well.
If EWS is finalising your website connection, Hail Support will explain how to add your news and newsletters to the website once that connection is ready.
