Adding Videos

Now you can enthral your audiences with not only interesting prose but also real live moving pictures! Our video feature enables Hail users to add even more dynamic content to their articles and publications.

Before getting started in Hail, make sure your video has been uploaded to YouTube or Vimeo. Grab the link from there and get ready to follow the instructions below...

  1. Head to the Video section in the main menu on the left-hand side. Here you’ll find the Video Browser which defaults to listing your linked videos, with the latest at the top and oldest at the bottom.
  2. Simply click on ‘+ Add video’ at the top to browse and link a video from YouTube or Vimeo
  3. Whichever way you add videos they’ll end up in the video browser and highlighted in blue at the top. From there you can click on them to review the video title and description, and add tags which will be displayed when added to articles and publications, and help you search for specific videos in the future.

Privacy settings for Video links: On YouTube you can upload public, and unlisted videos to Hail, but not private videos. On Vimeo, public videos can be uploaded to Hail. However, Vimeo have different privacy settings and that affects uploading. If you change the "embed privacy" to anywhere - which means that you can embed your video on an external website (like Hail) it should upload correctly.
